Initial Evaluation
Placement at Rebecca's House begins with a personal history questionnaire filled out by the patient followed by an intake and assessment conducted by one of our licensed mental health professionals. The initial assessment and evaluation will help determine the appropriate treatment program required for the patient. Programs include the Outpatient Program, Partial Hospitalization Program, and the Women's Program. The initial assessment focuses on psychological and medical factors that may have contributed or may still be contributing to the development of the eating disorder.
We will discuss the treatment and its clinical objectives in full during the initial meeting, and we will give the patient information on the various programs we offer. We strongly encourage both the patient and parents to give input for the types of additional therapy that the patient would prefer such as art or music therapy, equine therapy, and cooking classes.
If the patient does not meet the criteria for outpatient treatment at Rebecca's House, we will research and offer clinical recommendations for other treatment centers by providing references for the patient and family members. To schedule an intake and assessment to see if you or a loved one is a candidate for outpatient treatment, please call 1-800-711-2062 or email us at info@rebeccashouse.org.
Admission
Rebecca's House's intake process is thorough but quick. Once our staff has established a course of treatment, the patient can be admitted to Rebecca's House immediately. Treatment typically commences within a week of the initial enquiry.
Fee Structure and Insurance Issues
Please contact Rebecca's House for information on the fee structure for our various clinical programs such as the Outpatient Program, Partial Hospitalization Program, and the Women's Program. The fee is collected at the time the service is rendered. A statement is provided for the patient if they choose to file third party insurance reimbursement. Rebecca's House will work with various insurance providers on a case by case basis and verify insurance for you. For more information, please see our insurance page.
Patient Eligibility
Outpatients will receive medical clearance prior to enrolling in Rebecca's House's programs, but the patient's condition can still change without warning. Rebecca's House's top priority is to help patients recover from eating disorders. Therefore, if a patient is enrolled in treatment and the treatment team clinically recommends a higher level of patient care due to the patient's lack of progress, medical instability, or noncompliance, Rebecca's House has the right to terminate the patient, recommend hospitalization, and provide three references at any point during treatment.
Medical Evaluation
Rebecca's House patients must complete a comprehensive medical exam along with complete blood work. When clinic staff deems it appropriate, a patient may be asked to undergo a cardiac assessment. Depending on the diagnosis and symptoms of the patient, Rebecca's House may recommend ongoing medical monitoring, gynecological examination, and bone density testing. Moreover, patients are required to have an emergency contact person in order to enroll at Rebecca's House in the event of a medical emergency due to the serious health problems that can occur with eating disorders.
Length of Treatment
Generally speaking, the length of stay for our outpatient treatment has been approximately one to six months. However, this depends on several factors, including the severity of the diagnosis, the patient's compliance with treatment, and the patient's enrolled program. More intensive programs may expedite the length of stay. Our clinical experience has shown that after patients have been discharged from inpatient programs, they often need to follow up with aftercare clinical services from treatment centers such as Rebecca's House, or they will go revert to having an eating disorder.
Treatment Intensity
Depending on the circumstances, patients may find that Rebecca's House is a viable alternative to an inpatient hospital stay or a residential program. As patients go through different phases of recovery from their eating disorder, we will adjust the intensity of their programs.
