How Female Friendships Are Good For Your Health And More

As we move through the normal ups and downs of our lives, it’s important to have others to share our experiences with and rely on. Many women count on their female friends to be there to share their happiness with, and their sadness as well. Helping your friends and supporting them through rough times enhances your own sense of worth and well-being, as well as theirs.

Recent scientific studies are showing that friendships are beneficial to your health, as well as your emotional well being and happiness. Women without a strong network of social support or friendships are at a higher risk of running into health issues and are susceptible to diseases. The connection between your emotional well being and physical health could not be more obvious.

How to Make Your Relationships Stronger

Reach out to friends you already have and may have lost touch with, or make an effort to get to know someone new. It can be as simple as sending a text or email, or giving someone a compliment. Taking a class, joining a group, or just making an effort to be friendlier everyday can open you up to new social possibilities. As we get older, it’s easy to lose touch with friends as work and relationship priorities tend to take over our lives. We have less free time to spend on socializing as well. Setting aside time to catch up with friends can help ease stress and make living life much more rewarding.

The media also encourages women from an early age to make men a priority in their lives, and to be competitive and hyper critical of other women. It’s important to stay strong and be aware of the false messages that are being sent to us. Being kind to and supportive of other women will not only benefit your own health and happiness, but also the well being of all women out there.
